You made a great point about the discipline involved in responding to all comments, even when not inspired. Certainly for comments like yours, which are always supremely helpful and/or enjoyable, it does make sense to respond. It's a meaningful conversation, and we seem to mutually lift each other up. :) Maybe it's not as important business-wise for me to reply to those who seem like they aren't fond of me anyway, but then again, you never know when listening to someone's objections could change them into a repeat reader. Plus, practicing my composure and ability to keep participating verbally when I'm slightly offended is an awesome skill. It helps me be the best coach I could be. I also love it when I can act warm and empathetic towards people who may have been disgruntled by my article. If anything, receiving that show of respect from me could be beneficial for their day.
