Thank you so much for sharing your perspectives, Paula. I really appreciated them. I'm sorry to hear your gentle dialogue with fans of J.K. Rowling had such disappointing results.

I feel grateful that you have been advocating for our right as trans people to use restrooms! Thank you for engaging in this challenging work. It's because of outspoken women like you that our circumstances have gradually been improving.

Of course I don't mind you don't feel the same sympathy as I do for this particular famous author. We are coming from a totally different experience! In my case, I have been surrounded by people who are fully on board with trans rights. I read Medium articles all the time that are very firm about condemning her transphobia.

It made me want to say, "Look, maybe we can be a little gentler with each other?" Plus, it's just my personality. I seem to be an extremely peace & forgiveness kind of person, perhaps excessively so. I admire that other people have different ways their minds work and bring diverse perspectives and approaches.

If I had been having the experiences you had in your LGBT and alternative relationship communities, I'm sure I too would have little desire to send out a "let's be easy on people" message.

Again, I really appreciate you taking the time to add your perspective to what I wrote. This article wouldn't feel complete without the added insight. ^_^
