Thank you for this funny and honest article! :) I was excited to read it because I've been meaning to do some reflecting on my own time I spent at uni. Plus, I had wanted to minor in Psychology and just didn't go through with it.

I dropped out after a year of Creative Writing at a small liberal arts college. After a gap year where I appeared to be going nowhere, I did 4 years of Theatre at Arizona State. I was really just biding time trying to find myself.

Writing was what I fit best with all along, but the more I continued in school the more difficulty I had with structure. I wanted to be free to read, learn, write, and explore by my own inspiration rather than a set curriculum. Only in 2020 did I find that amazing freedom on Medium. Now it's up to me to figure out how I will sustain this "autodidactic" lifestyle financially for the years ahead. Love that word, which you reminded me of.

Glad you put that stressful college phase of your life behind you! Even though our degrees may have been "useless" on the surface, I'm sure we both learned so many subtle things that have made us who we are today.

Haha, I really liked the title and picture you chose for the article. Definitely very clickable but I did not feel deceived; I was satisfied by what I read.
