How It Feels to Be 7 Years Free From Gaming Addiction
Possible inspiration if you seek addiction freedom
I feel like a beautiful rat who was kept in an experiment cage, where I was forced to play a rodent maze video game for pieces of smelly cheese. I escaped and have roamed somewhere green and safe for a long time now.
I feel like a hermit crab who, unable to find any abandoned snail shells to live in, chose an uncomfortable yet shiny glass bottle as my home. I was afraid of change, but with encouragement from my hermit crab friends, I switched into a proper snail shell when the opportunity finally presented itself. My lust for beach life has soared ever since.
The above might seem like strange analogies if you’re not a geek about animals like I am. The game I was addicted to for the better part of 13 or so years was called Neopets. It was a virtual pet world that became my escape from my true, yet far off dream of becoming a human and animal rights activist and writer.
