Hi Kat! It is amazing to hear from you. Thank you for your compassion for chickens and other animals. ❤

Great question about backyard eggs. I don’t know a lot about this topic, but here are 3 ethical considerations I am aware of are: 1. If the pet chicken was not rescued, they might be purchased from a breeder. 2. Chickens often eat their own eggs to get back the nutrients, so some people would prefer not to take the eggs. 3. Chickens naturally only lay eggs for a short season during the summer, but artifical light can be used to make them lay year-round. If it were me, I would not want to mess with their cycle.

It is an interesting topic because as a vegan, I don’t want to support animal exploitation, but I also want to be open-minded if something truly does not hurt the animal. I once saw a video of a vegan woman who was brushing the hair of a rescued sheep and got lots of wool in the brush, so she wove it into hand warmers. She would not buy industrial wool though.

Please let me know if you would like me to write an article on any particular topic. I can tag you in a reply when it’s done if you would like. It’s an honor to try and support other people who are moving towards veganism. Have a wonderful day, Kat. :)
