Arna, thank you so much for adding to my post! I agree that not all opinions are safe. I wouldn't want to treat something as "just an opinion" if it's contributing to violence. That is a good point.
I tend to be a pretty apologetic / self-deprecating person, so when I write I have to be careful about going overboard and being overly accommodating of opposing views. In this case, the opposing view is transphobia, which doesn't just impact me, it impacts the whole transgender community. So I have to be responsible for that.
Thank you for explaining how you feel about the term MtF. Even though I have embraced the term MtF for myself somewhat, I actually feel the same way about the concept of transitioning. Being born in a male body has indeed felt like a birth defect. I don't feel like I've transitioned because I've always just been me.
