5 Reasons I Love Wearing a Face Mask That Have Nothing to Do With Covid
I’m writing this because I want us to feel confident when we wear our face masks. Whether our reason for masking be to stop disease spread (important), or something unorthodox, let’s be proud to don our beautiful accessories!
The main reason I wear my face mask — even when I’m walking in the open air, without any plans to stop and chat — is that I’m self-conscious about the hair on my face. I am a transgender woman, and when I’m passing by other humans, I feel more confident if I can look my feminine best. Although I ideally would shave and apply foundation to my face, it’s nice to not have to do anything in the morning that takes that long before I head out the door to bask in sunlight and get my legs moving. So, instead, I mask!
And often, I just keep wearing the mask every time I go out. My face appreciates the full day break from makeup, and it’s sweet to reach the end of my day and not have to scrub anything away.
